you can't believe that itunes wouldn't have it? I CAN!!!

think of the itunes music store as the mp3 equivalent of wal-mart. anything that everyone's checking for, they'll probably have. specialty subgenres and certain back catalog items...maybe not. and in the case of one bobby womack, maybe the major labels that have the rights to the recordings and copyright haven't released the recording to the digital domain yet.

all signs point towards people playing and buying mp3s (hell, even scratching, cutting, and beat-juggling mp3s for that matter), but high-level bigwigs are still either holding off the inevitable or trying to place restrictions on files and whatnot.

it would probably be easier trying to find bobby womack on an audioblog than an online store. then again, i just bought some sam & dave mp3s the other day, so they'll get to brother bobby eventually...

You're right, man. I know why they're doing it and for some stupid reason I didn't count on ITunes being the Wal-Mart of mp3s, so it kinda sucks. Well, I'll buy his albums wherever i can find them and upload the tracks myself. The bigwigs don't need to be in my face all the time.

ITunes has a lot of re-recordings of Teddy Pendergrass (which I didn't know until after buying them), but not his originals from back in the day. It's kind of like car buying; you have to check extensively before buying or you can get stuck with something you really don't want. But then, they don't let you check but so much, so it's kind of a crap shoot sometimes. I get annoyed when I can't find a song I would think everyone would want, but your reason makes perfect sense, and if I really want it, I'll find it (Cowboy Bebop's whole soundtrack comes to mind) with some spirited web searching.
